Vehicle fire

Fire Control received several 999 calls reporting a car on fire on the A38 westbound, near Chudleigh. Two fire engines were sent and on arrival confirmed this car was well alight. Both southbound carriageways were closed temporarily whilst crews extinguished the fire using:

• 2 Breathing apparatus
• 1 Hose reel jet

The car was 80 per cent destroyed by fire and the cause was accidental.
