Vehicle fire

Fire control received multiple calls from members of the public to report a van on fire at the given location.

Control immediately dispatched 2 fire engines to attend the incident.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed that 1 curtain sided HGV to be well alight and got to work in order to extinguish the fire.

Within half an hour the attending crews managed to extinguish the fire which was believed to be caused accidentally.

Crews utilised the following equipment:

• 2 Breathing apparatus 
• 1 Thermal imaging camera 
• 2 Hose reel jets 
• 1 Covering jet
• 1 Environmental road pack 

The fire caused 100 percent damage to the vehicle and the road remained shut for a short while after while recovery took place.
