Road traffic collision

Two crews from Paignton were mobilised to the A385 Totnes Road at Collaton St Mary following a request from the Police for our assistance to a two vehicle head on collision, involving a van and a car, where one person was reported to be trapped in one of the vehicles. 

Crews were soon on scene and set to work stabilising the vehicles and working alongside paramedics, assessing the casualty and working out the best way to extricate the casualty. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to extricate the casualty into the hands of the paramedics before being conveyed to hospital. 

The incident was brought under control at 22:59 and, once vehicles and scene were made safe, duty of care was left with the Police. All other passengers were free and clear of the vehicles and checked over by Ambulance crew.
