Road traffic collision
Fire Control received a call from Police following reports of a single vehicle RTC at the above location this morning. It had been reported that one vehicle had left the road and gone through a hedge and come to a standstill within a field, with one person trapped inside.
On fire engine from Crediton, one from Exeter Danes Castle and a heavy rescue vehicle from Exeter Middlemoor stations were mobilised.
On arrival of the first fire engine from Crediton crews confirmed that the vehicle was on it's side and that one person was still within the car. Due to the location of the vehicle and nature of the entrapment all other oncoming resources from fire were stood down.
Crews then used a tirfor winch, small tools and a short extension ladder to assist the casualty from the vehicle.
Whilst in attendance at this RTC the crews confirmed there were at least a further two RTCs on the same stretch of road due to icy conditions. They confirmed there were no further entrapments however and no injuries.
A request has been made to highways and police to close this road temporarily due to the icy conditions, to prevent further RTCs occuring.
These are the final details for this incident.
