Road traffic collision

Fire control received a call from police requesting our attendance at an Road Traffic Collision on the A372 near to Podimore roundabout where 2 people were trapped within a vehicle.

Control mobilised 2 fire appliances from Somerton and Martock, a heavy rescue vehicle and support pump from Yeovil along with a supporting officer.

Once on scene crews confirmed there had been a 1 vehicle RTC resulting in the car being on its roof with 2 people trapped. Crews were at work stabilising the vehicle and gaining entry by removing side door to vehicle to allow on scene paramedics to access the trapped casualties. 

Crews confirmed that 2 casualties have been extricated from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment. The casualties are now in the hands of ambulance and being conveyed to hospital.
