Road traffic collision

Fire Control received a call from Police reporting a road traffic collision on the A39 between Abbotsham Cross and Bideford.  3 fire engines from Bideford, Appledore and Torrington attended; as well as vehicle stabilisation equipment form Barnstaple.

Fire crews confirmed a 2 vehicle road traffic collision with 2 persons trapped in 1 vehicle.  Fire crews extricated 1 male and 1 female casualty from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment, 1 hose reel jet and small tools; both casualties were transferred to hospital by Ambulance.  1 child was also checked over by paramedics on scene as a precaution.  The incident was left in the hands of Police.
