Road traffic collision
This evening fire control received a call from a driver of a car who had been involved in and RTC and was still trapped within their vehicle along the A3088 just outside of Yeovil.
Control mobilised 2 fire appliances and 1 Heavy rescue Vehicle all from Yeovil along with a supporting officer.
Locating the vehicle initially was difficult due the driver not knowing their exact location and having travelled through undergrowth and down a bank, crews struggled to locate the vehicle. Once located, crews confirmed there had been a 1 vehicle RTC which had come to rest in a ditch on its side.
Crews successfully extricated the driver using blocks and chocks to stabilise the vehicle and the use of a full roof flap to enable on scene ambulance crews to gain access to the casualty and extricate them out of the car safely.
The casualty was conveyed to hospital by ambulance and the incident was handed over to the Police.
These are the full and final details.
