Road traffic collision

Fire control received a report of a lorry had crashed with possibly somebody still inside on the A3088 link road. Three fire engines and a heavy rescue unit were sent.

On arrival crews confirmed this was a lorry that had crashed into a ditch and the driver was still trapped inside. A further heavy rescue unit was requested and sent from Taunton.

The driver of the lorry was released using:

• Hydraulic cutting equipment
• Electric cutting equipment

The casualty was then taken by Air Ambulance to hospital.
