Rescue
Fire Control received a call from Ambulance requesting our assistance at an incident they were attending in Cheddar Gorge.
Due to the location of this incident, 1 fire engine from Cheddar, 1 from Taunton and the aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater were sent to the location. Avon Fire & Rescue Service also attended the incident with their Specialist Rope Rescue Teams.
On arrival, crews confirmed there was a casualty approx 40m up the cliff face, with unknown injuries from falling rocks. 1 other casualty had been involved but had managed to be walked down from the cliff face aided by emergency workers.
Avon & Somerset Police requested the Cheddar Rope Rescue Team and HART from Ambulance also attended.
Once all rescue systems were put into place, the casualty was rescued by the Special Rescue Teams using a stretcher, line rescue and first aid kits.
