Property fire
Two fire engines and a water carrier were mobilised to reports of a fire in a barn at a property on Newland Lane in Exford. Whilst in attendance crews requested a further two fire engines - which were sent from South Molton and Minehead as the barn was well alight with 100 bales of straw inside.
Crews got to work extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets, one main jet and water supply from open water. A telehandler helped with removing straw from the barn.
Also in attendance was the welfare pod from Burnham and the Incident Support Unit from Martock.
Crews worked hard to save two adjacent barns from the fire, and extinguished 150 bales of straw in difficult conditions, hampered by high winds.
Later in the evening, relief crews were sent from Combe Martin, Williton and Bampton.
The fire is now out, and the cause was electrical.
