Property fire
Fire Control received a call regarding an agricultural barn containing hay and machinery well alight. Fire Control mobilised three fire engines to the incident. On arrival crews confirmed one shed well measuring 20m X 20m containing approximately 200 tonnes of hay well alight. There is also a liquid nitrogen tank situated near to the fire. Crews quickly requested further assistance and there are now six fire engines in attendance.
Crews are using the following equipment to extinguish the fire:
- Two breathing apparatus
- One hose reel jet
- One compressed air foam system jet
- Thermal imaging camera
Crews are currently trying to cool the nitrogen tank. Confirmed there is 1500 litres of liquid nitrogen next to the fire but not directly involved.
Update 1500 - Crews are continuing to make progress and cooling the liquid nitrogen tank. Two breathing apparatus, three 45ml jets and a drone are currently in use.
Crews are making good progress and are continuing to monitor the barn and hay for hot spots, using small tools one hose reel jet. They are awaiting the use of the farmers telehandler to assist with the removal of hay.
