Fire control received a call from a member of the public reporting a barn on fire in Filleigh. 

Conrol mobilised 2 Fire Appliances a water bowser and supporting officers. the appliances came from South Molton, Barnstaple, the water carrier also came from Barnstaple. 

Once on scene crews immediately requested a further appliance attends, this also cam from Barnstaple. 

Crews confirmed 1 x agricultural building well alight and were at work using 2 Breathing Apparatus. 1 Hose Reel Jet and 1 Compressed Air Foam Jet. 

Crews were making steady progress extinguishing the fire. 

This was 1 x agricultural building measuring approximately 20 x 20 Metres, containing 1 x car, a number of wooden pallets and a small quantity of hay. The car and pallets within the barn were 100% damaged by fire the building itself was damaged 25% by fire.

Crews used a total of;

  • 4 breathing apparatus,
  • 1 Compressed Air Foam Jet,
  • 1 Safety Jet.
  • 2 Thermal Imaging Cameras, 

Crews will be conducting a revisit this morning to ensure there are no hotspots. 
The cause of the fire is deemed accidental.
