Animal Rescue

Fire Control received a call from North Devon Animal Ambulance requesting our assistance to help them rescue an injured swan stuck in a culvert. An officer was mobilised in the first instance to liaise with the animal specialist on scene, before requesting the attendance of our Special Rescue Team from Barnstaple. Once in attendance the swan was successfully rescued by ourselves using water safety equipment and a raft. The swan was left in the care of the animal hospital staff to be conveyed to their nearest site for medical attention.
