Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity available for 4 x Temporary Crew Manager’s to join the Academy as Training Delivery Instructor, based at our Exeter Airport Training Academy. On a Fixed Term Contract for up to 18 months (with the potential to become permanent)
This position is aligned to the day duty system (DDS) and will attract a 12% training allowance, payable following a period of development in post.
About the Crew Manager Training Delivery Instructor role:
The posts will be focused primarily on Breathing Apparatus and to support Maritime training delivery.
Where required there will be the need to support training delivery at Severn Park and other locations across the Service.
The role will require you to develop and maintain, through continuous professional development (CPD), your ability to deliver.
You will be expected to support Academy Watch Managers to ensure training materials are current and compliant with National Operational Guidance.
You will need to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both orally and in writing, including preparing reports and evaluations, giving presentations and leading training sessions.
Key responsibilities of our Crew Manager will include:
- Creating an environment where everyone feels safe to learn by promoting the values and the code of ethics.
- Acquire and maintain the ability to deliver on all courses across the Academy.
- Implement effective training and development activities.
- Be highly motivated, self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Be willing to work flexibly to meet the commitments of the Training Academy.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the post and within the context of the National Occupational Standard Role Map for a Crew Manager.
Eligibility criteria
Applications are invited from existing suitably experienced and qualified Firefighters and Crew Managers. Eligible applicants will need to meet the following criteria as a minimum:
- Be a competent Firefighter
- If applying for a promotion, or for On-Call staff, have been successful at all elements of the Leading Others assessment centre or an ADC to be eligible.
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Have no outstanding performance of discipline issues including live sanctions.
- Discussed the opportunity with your Line Manager.
Desirable qualifications for the role:
- Breathing Apparatus Instructor (BAI)
- Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructor (CFBTI)
- Adult Education Trainer (AET) or equivalent
- Positive Pressure Ventilation Instructor (PPVI)
