Vehicle fire
2 fire appliances from Ivybridge and one of our Plymouth stations at Crownhill were mobilised this afternoon to a tractor on fire in a field at a farm in Bittaford nr Ivybridge.
Crews remained on scene for a few hours firefighting as the vehicle was well alight and totally destroyed by fire. A re-attendance was required after one of the tyres caught fire again due to a hotspot, which our Ivybridge crew dealt with immediately and as a result of possible further hotspots a reinspection has been agreed later on this evening. Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and compressed air foam to extinguish the fire, which was confirmed to have started accidentally. Duty of care has been left with the owner.
