Vehicle fire
2 fire appliances from Dulverton and Bampton were mobilised to a lorry on the B3223 near Winsford, which was carrying glass bottles for recycling, after the driver reported smoke issuing from the dashboard. They had been able to safely pull over at the time of call, to await our arrival.
On arrival crews confirmed the lorry was well alight and set to work with 2 BA wearers and 1 hose reel jet, later using an additional safety jet to help prevent the fire spreading further.
This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 14:17hrs. The lorry cab was completely destroyed by the fire, which started accidentally, with crews using 2 BA, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet, water relay and small tools to extinguish it, as well as environmental protection equipment to dam up and prevent oil and diesel from entering a drain/water course. Once the vehicle and scene had been safe, duty of care was left with a local Highways team, to close the road and make it safe following the leak. There were no casualties and these are the final details.
