Vehicle fire
Two fire appliances from Wellington, together with a water carrier from Bridgwater, were mobilised following a call from the owner of a van that had caught fire in the yard of a farm. This was near to an outbuilding containing roof thatching materials.
Crews confirmed they could see a large fire in the distance whilst on route and confirmed the vehicle was well alight on their arrival. They immediately set to work firefighting with compressed air foam to not only extinguish the van but to protect the adjacent outbuilding from any radiated heat or fire spread.
Whilst the van was sadly destroyed, along with an area of hedgerow, fire crews prevented the fire from spreading to the shed. Once the fire was extinguished and the area made safe, the duty of care was left with the vehicle owner.
There were no casualties and this incident is now complete.
