Road traffic collision

2 fire appliances from Barnstaple were mobilised following a request from Ambulance for our assistance to a report of a one vehicle RTC, at Rooks Cross, Yarnscombe nr Torrington, where the vehicle had overturned and come to rest on its roof, trapping the driver. 

On arrival crews confirmed the vehicle had come to rest on its side and set to work stabilising the vehicle and working alongside paramedics to extricate the casualty, through the rear of the vehicle (the boot), using stabilisation equipment, small tools, straps and a stretcher. Once released they were transported to hospital via land ambulance whilst crews made the vehicle and scene safe. The incident was brought under control at 2005hrs and duty of care was left with Ambulance and the Police.
