The Fire Service were called to an incident on Exmouth Beach at 17:00 this afternoon where a man had become trapped in sand with an incoming tide. Crews worked alongside responders from HM Coastguard, RNLI Lifeguards, SWAST and members of the public to successfully rescue the person.
We would urge visitors to the beach to be aware of the dangers of digging deep holes in the sand due to the risk of collapse, as well as being aware of local tide times.
We want to thank everyone who helped to bring about a positive result to this incident, and wish the person involved a speedy recovery.
