Devon & Somerset Fire Control initially mobilised two appliances to reports of a garage on fire at the above location. Due to a further call reporting that the garage was used as a workshop, a further appliance and an incident support unit was also mobilised.
On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that the garage was well alight and got crews to work to tackle the fire using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and compressed air foam.
The fire caused approximately 90% fire damage and complete smoke damage to the building. Western Power and British Telecom were also requested, due to nearby overhead cables.
The fire was thought to have started accidentally.
