Property fire
3 fire appliances from Bridgwater, Street and Glastonbury were mobilised following a call from the occupant of domestic property saying their range oven was on fire in the kitchen. Fire Control were concerned for the elderly occupants at the time of call that they would have difficulty evacuating. We stayed on the line until we were satisfied that they had safely evacuated the property.
On arrival of the initial crew they confirmed the ground floor was heavily smoke logged and set to work locating the range oven and isolating electric and oil supplies.
This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 1644hrs. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet, 2 thermal imaging cameras and a positive ventilation fan to extinguish the fire and clear the 4 bedroom, 2 storey, detached property of smoke. The range oven was severely damaged by fire and smoke, with the remainder of the property suffering 10% smoke damage but luckily there no casualties. Once the scene was made safe, smoke detection was fitted and fire safety was given duty of care was left with the owners. These are the full and final details.
