Property fire
Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze involving a thatch property in Georgeham North Devon. Twelve Fire Engines are in attendance with supporting resources also in attendance. The property measures 45m x 25m with the full roof being involved in fire. Crews have salvaged property and are the following equipment is now in use:
- Aerial Ladder Appliance
- Four breathing apparatus
- Two hose reel jets
- Two main jets
Steady progress is being made by crews with relief crews being organised to provide consistent firefighting activity on scene.
Update 16:45 - The building is fully involved in fire. Crews are using water jets and the aerial ladder platform. Appliances will shortly be replaced by four relief crews.
Update 18:45 - Firefighting is still ongoing at the incident. Two appliances are carrying out water shuttles. One neighbouring property is being protected with compressed air foam solution. One aerial ladder platform and two hose reel jets are still in use.
Final Update 25/3/25 13:20 - Thatched property fire involving two semi detached properties of two storey stone construction. The total area of both properties was approximately 45 metres x 25 metres. The fire involved the entire length of thatch across both properties both of which were 100% damaged by fire and water. The fire was extinguished using six breathing apparatus, two main jets, one compressed air foam branch, one aerial ladder platform and two hose reel jets. The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental in origin.
