Property fire
Fire Control received a call to a property where the equipment inside had caught fire.
3 fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and an Operational Assurance Officer were sent to the location.
On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a fire involving a furnace within the property. Crews got to work with 2 breathing apparatus, 1 safety jet, 1 hose reel jet, 2 dry powder extinguishers, 2 thermal imaging cameras and multi gas detector to extinguish the fire. All personnel were accounted for. The fire began to spread to the structure of the building and electricals. The Officer In Charge requested a further 3 fire engines be mobilised to the incident.
With a total of 6 fire engines and 1 aerial ladder platform, crews isolated the gas and the electrics to the premises. The fire, which started in the furnace, spread to the flue and part of the structure of the property. Crews made steady progress and were able to bring the fire under control.
This was a fire in a single storey commercial building measuring approx 70m x 50m. Fire involved the extraction unit in a furnace which spread to the flue and part of the structure of the building. The fire was fully extinguished using 6 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 main jet, 1 safety jet, thermal imaging cameras, gas detection monitors, short extension ladder, small tools and dry powder extinguishers. The electrics and gas supply to the premises were isolated. An external investigation around the furnace extraction unit was carried out and the furnace was being left to cool naturally. The cause was accidental and duty of care was handed back to on site staff.
