Property fire
Fire control received reports of smoke issuing from a hotel in Torquay.
Control immediately mobilised 3 Fire Appliances from Torquay and Paignton alongside the Aerial Ladder Platform from Torquay and a supporting officer.
Once on scene crews confirmed smoke issuing and made pumps 5 for additional personnel, these additional resources attended from Paignton and Newton Abbot.
Crews confirmed a fire involving the ground floor single storey extension at the hotel and were at work preparing to gain entry to the property to fight the fire.
Shortly after this another 'make up' message was received for 7 Fire Appliances again for additional personnel.
This is a fire in a 4 storey property used as a hotel, the fire is involving a single storey extension at the rear of the premises. Crews have used a total of 14 Breathing Apparatus, 1 Firefighting Jet, 2 Safety Jets, 3 Hose Reel Jets, and Thermal Imaging Cameras, crews are currently at work conducting a room by room search of th premises to ensure there are no persons in the property.
Please avoid the area and be aware that Belgrave Road is closed from the seafront.

Update - 1.25pm - 12 March 2024
The fire has now been extinguished and all pumps have now returned to their stations. The fire originated in a single-story extension at the rear of the property, the room itself has been 100% damaged by fire with the rest of the floor suffering 75% fire damage and 100% smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
