Property fire
2 fire appliances from Bridgwater were mobilised following a call from the owner of a property in Moonraker Close, Bridgwater, where they had discovered a fire in their kitchen.
Shortly after arriving, crews confirmed that the occupant had removed the source of fire to the garden, a saucepan left unattended on the hob, prior to our arrival but they had suffered from smoke inhalation as a result. An ambulance was requested and whilst awaiting their arrival fire service personnel administered first aid. In the meantime, other crew members extinguished the fire in the saucepan and entered the semi detached property to make the scene safe, using thermal imaging equipment and clear the property of smoke using a positive pressure fan. There was no fire detection in the property so crews also fitted 2 smoke detectors and gave the occupant some fire safety advice. The incident was brought under control at 0644hrs and the casualty was left in the care of the ambulance paramedics.
