Fire control received calls to a garage fire which was attached to a property. Crews from Wellington were immediately alerted and mobilised.

On arrival, an assistance message was quickly made to fire control to make the total number of fire appliances four. These pumps then proceeded from Taunton and Wiveliscombe. Crews on scene got immediately to work on scene with 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets.

The incident was sectorised into two sectors to better control different areas of the incident ground. A request for a further fire appliance to attend was made and this proceeded from Cullompton.

The fire was extinguished using the following:

  • 4 breathing apparatus
  • 2 hose reel jets
  • 2 safety jets
  • 1 compressed foam jet

The garage was 100% damaged by fire and the kitchen of the attached property was 50% damaged by smoke and heat. A handover was completed for responsible person on scene and arrangements are being made to rehome them while the property remains uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.
