Property fire
Fire control received a call to fire within a barn in South Milton, Kingsbridge.
Fire control mobilised 2 fire engines from Salcombe and Ivybridge, 1 Water bowser from Plympton and 2 supporting officers.
Due to gaining information from original caller and travel times to the incident, fire control mobilised a third appliance from Totnes.
Once on scene crews confirmed hay and straw well alight and crews were making efforts to remove approx 300 sheep from barn.
14:26 - Crews sent an assistance message to control of make pumps 6 for breathing apparatus. This mobilised a further 3 fire appliances from Greenbank, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth, 1 incident command unit from Honiton, 1 welfare unit from Crediton and a further 3 supporting officers.
14:54 - Crews confirmed fire involving hay and straw in a single storey barn. Sheep within barn have been removed to a place of safety. This incident has been sectorised into 2 sectors. Both sectors were each using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 45mm hose with 1 sector also using 1 light portable pump and the water bowser.

This was a fire in a single storey agricultural barn measuring approx 30m by 30m, which contained 300 sheep along with hay and straw. Approx 50% of the straw and bedding was damaged by fire. The sheep were released from the barn to a field for safety and were looked over by a local vet. 1 adult male received oxygen therapy following smoke inhalation and was conveyed to hospital as a precaution. The contents of the barn were removed to the open and the electrics were isolated. Duty of care was left with the occupiers. The cause of the fire was accidental.
