Property fire
Fire control received multiple reports of a property under construction on fire and immediately mobilised 3 Fire Appliances which came from Ivybridge, Modbury and Crownhill and supporting officers.
Once in attendance the incident commander confirmed smoke and flames issuing from the property and immediately requested a Water Carrying appliance due to a lack of a local Fire Hydrant, this came from Torquay.
Shortly after this request another assistance message was passed through to control " Make Pumps 4" this request was for additional personnel on the fire ground.
Crews confirmed this was a fire involving a bungalow annexe that is under construction, crews were at work using
- 2 Breathing Apparatus
- 1 Hose Reel Jet
- 1 Thermal Imaging Camera
Another assistance message was put in from the fire ground, this time a "Make Pumps 6" Again this request was for additional personnel as well as additional water supply.
Crews utilised a nearby pond to increase the amount of available water directly to the fire ground, at this stage crews have also sectorised the incident to have 2 fronts on tackling the fire.

A further assistance message was received from the fire ground this time for "Make pumps 10" This request was made to increase the amount of readily available Breathing Apparatus on the incident ground.
Crews were making steady progress to extinguish the fire using.
- 2 x 45mm Attack Jets
- 4 x Breathing Apparatus Wearers
- 2 x Thermal Imaging Cameras
- 2 x Short Extension Ladders
- 1 x Smoke Curtain
- 1 x Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan
- Small Tools
This incident has now been scaled back to 1 Fire Appliance and a further update will be proved when this incident is closed.
Update 04:17
Crews have conducted a revisit of this incident to ensure there had been no re-ignition.
This was a 2 storey domestic property partially under construction, with a single storey annexe which suffered from a partial roof collapse, the building has been severely damaged by fire, heat,water and smoke, all equipment used is listed above. Crews will conduct 1 further revisit later this morning to confirm the fire has succesfully been extinguished.
