Fire Control received a call from a neighbour concerned they could smell burning at a property in Hele Road. Whilst on the call they confirmed they could see flames and 3 fire engines were sent from Torquay and Paignton.
On arrival, crews confirmed there was a fire within a first floor flat and got to work extinguishing the fire using 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and a thermal imaging camera. An ambulance was called for a male with smoke inhalation and crews gave first aid administering oxygen therapy. The fire was involving a chip pan and caused 100% smoke damage to the kitchen and 50% fire damage.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
