Property fire
Fire appliances attended a garage well alight in Ash near Martock and on arrival, crews requested a fourth appliance for assistance. This was a fire involving a detached garage. Crews got to work with 4 breathing apparatus, 1 attack jet and 1 hose reel jet, 1 compressed air foam jet and 1 triple extension ladder.
Crews confirmed the fire extinguished at 1740 hrs, with steady progress being made damping down. Progress of the incident was hampered due to partial collapse of the garage roof and live overhead power cables.
Two elderly occupants of the affected property were given oxygen therapy due to smoke inhalation and paramedics were called.
The garage suffered severe damage and the cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental. A total of 6 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 1 attack jet, 2 safety jets, compressed air foam, 2 ladders, 2 thermal imaging cameras and 1 hydrant was used during the incident.
