Property fire
We have seven appliances at Hill Barton Business Park in Clyst St Mary dealing with a fire that started in a shredder and has spread to a woodpile. There are large plumes of smoke so local residents may wish to close their windows.
We are working with site staff to make fire breaks, and fighting the fire with compressed air foam.
Update at 1632 hrs. Crews are using 6 jets, 2 breathing apparatus, 2 aerial ladder platforms, 2 water bowsers and 1 high volume pump to put the fire out.
Update at 1800 hrs - There are now 13 fire appliances in attendance, along with supporting appliances. Relief crews are in place for crew rotation. Steady progress is being made tackling the fire.
Update at 0800 on the 24th - The incident is ongoing, with crews making steady progress, assisted by the weather. The incident has scaled back to 4 pumps, 2 aerial ladder platforms and 2 water bowsers.
Update at 15:30 on 25th - The incident is ongoing we currently have 3 fire appliances and an aerial platform ladder in attendance. Crews are turning over and damping down.
Update at 23:02 on the 25th - Crews have now extinguished the fire, and following a revisit earlier this evening can confirm that this incident is now closed.

11:58 hrs - Incident is now be scaled down to 2 fire engines, water bowser, incident command unit and 2 aerial ladder platforms. Fire crews are making progress containing fire, preventing hot embers from spreading and protecting adjacent buildings.
Update at 17:01 hrs - Area being allowed to burn out, under controlled conditions, current attendance of two fire engines, water bowser and two aerial ladder platforms is likely to remain for the foreseeable future.
