Our fire stations
Our emergency responses and community safety activities are delivered from 83 fire stations based throughout Devon and Somerset.
We have a mix of wholetime, on-call, and volunteer stations spread across the two counties. On-call stations are sometimes called retained stations too.
We have two wholetime stations and ten stations with both wholetime and on-call crews. We have 69 on-call stations - the largest number in England. Two of our stations are run by volunteers.

Station types
Firefighters respond to on-call stations when they are called to an incident rather than being based there full time. On-call firefighters need to live or work within five minutes of their station to get there as soon as possible.
Crews are based at our wholetime stations 24 hours a day.
These stations are run by volunteer firefighters.
These stations have a mix of wholetime crews and on-call crews who respond to incidents. Wholetime firefighters are based at the station and on-call firefighters respond to the station when they are paged.
