Property fire

Fire Control received a 999 call reporting a kitchen on fire in a domestic property which had a thatched roof, although the roof was not involved in the fire.

Once crews got in attendance they confirmed the fire was creating a lot of smoke but was contained to the kitchen only. The fire was extinguished using:

• 2 Breathing apparatus
• 1 Hose reel jet
• 1 Thermal image camera
• 1 smoke clearance fan

The kitchen was 100 per cent damaged by fire and there was 40 per cent smoke and heat damage to a ground floor bathroom. One adult suffered from smoke inhalation and was taking to hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire was accidental.
