Outdoor fire
Fire control received a call from Slapton sands to a fire on a headland near to Kingswear.
Fire control mobilised 2 appliances from Brixham to investigate.
Crews gained access as far as possible and had to reach the fire by foot to establish the extent of it. Crews reached the effected area and confirmed approximately 300 square meters of gorse was alight. Soon after crews discovered the fire they requested a third pump for additional personnel. This appliance was sent from Totnes who were on route to Paignton for standby duties.
20 minutes after requesting a third appliance, due to the fire spreading and approx 1000 square meters of gorse alight a further assistance message was passed. Crews requested a fourth appliance, 1 water bowser and 1 4x4 vehicle for additional personnel and water. The appliance was sent from Buckfastleigh who were on route to Paignton for standby duties and the water bowser and 4x4 was sent from Torquay.
This incident has now been split into 2 sectors. These are fire and water sectors.
Update @ 07:00 - on scene crews have just sent a further assistance message requesting a second water bowser. This is on route from Danes Castle, Exeter.
