A fire appliance from Nether Stowey dealt with a delivery van that caught fire on Flaxpool HIll, Crowcombe this afternoon after the driver dialled 999. Smoke was issuing from the bonnet of the vehicle on our arrival and the small fire in the engine compartment was soon extinguished with a firefighter in breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet. They remained in attendance for some time damping down hotspots to prevent it spreading before making the vehicle safe and leaving duty of care with the driver awaiting recovery.
