Hazardous materials

Crews from Chard and Taunton attended a property on Fore Street in Chard where members of staff where feeling ill effects from an unknown cause. Crews used three breathing apparatus and gas monitors and established that the air conditioning system had a leak. The system was isolated and the property ventilated. Crews set up a decontamination area on site to ensure the safety of all those involved. Two casualties were tended to by paramedics on scene while another casualty was taken to hospital. As a precaution crews also had ready a hose reel jet and covering jet. The gas board were also on scene and used their gas detectors to check the building.
