4 fire appliances and an aerial ladder platform from our Plymouth stations at Camels Head, Crownhill, Greenbank and Plymstock were initially mobilised to multiple calls from local residents reporting a roof on fire of a 3 storey mid terrace property at Garden Crescent in Plymouth. As the calls continued to come into Fire Control, the fire was reported to be spreading through the roofs of neighbouring properties.

On arrival crews confirmed smoke and flames were issuing and at 13:20hrs increased the attendance by a further 2 pumping appliances, mobilised from Greenbank and Yelverton (who were standing by at Camels Head fire station), to assist with firefighting. The fire was well alight and established in the loft space but crews worked well to prevent it from spreading any further and soon had it under control. Steady progress was made by continually damping down and monitoring, not only the property effected but the adjacent properties either side. Once satisfied that the fire had been extinguished a revisit was organised to reinspect all 3 properties. This was carried out and the incident confirmed as complete at 17:32hrs. In total crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 2 safety jets (assisted by the aerial ladder platform), 3 thermal imaging cameras, ladders and various small tools. The fire, which started accidentally in the loft space of the property being refurbished, caused 80% damage by fire. Luckily there were no casualties.
