Property fire
Fire control received a call from Avon Fire control to reports of a caravan on fire in the Newbury area near to Frome.
Avon fire control mobilised a pump from Radstock and we mobilised a pump from Shepton Mallet.
Once the appliances were on scene crews confirmed 1 caravan and one neighbouring building well alight. At this point, Avon confirmed they were sending another appliance from Paulton and a Flexi Duty Officer. Shortly after this message, on scene crews sent an assistance message to control making pumps 4. The fourth appliance also attended from Shepton Mallet.
00:02 - Crews confirm 1 caravan and 1 barn well alight which 1 cylinder involved. They were using 4 Breathing Apparatus, 2 Hose reel jets and 2 Gas monitors in use.
Final details were as follows - Crews extinguished fire involving 1 large caravan and a barn containing 1.5 tonnes of hay which was completely destroyed by fire. 2 cylinders involved in fire were moved to a place of safety, monitored and cooled until deemed safe. Fire was extinguished using a total of 6 Breathing apparatus, 2 Hose Reel Jets, 2 Thermal Imaging Cameras, 2 Gas Monitors and small tools. Crews deemed this fire to have been started deliberately and the incident was handed over to Police on scene.
