Road traffic collision
2 fire appliances and a Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Yeovil were mobilised, following a request for assistance from the Police, to a 2 car head on collision on the B3148, Rimpton Hill near Rimpton, resulting in people trapped in both vehicles.
Shortly after crews arrived and assessed the scene they confirmed that 2 casualties were medically, not physically trapped, one in each of the vehicles and set to work stabilising the cars in preparation for extrication, alongside Ambulance paramedics. The first casualty was extricated through the side of their vehicle, with crews using hydraulic cutting equipment to gain access. The second casualty was extricated after the roof of their vehicle was removed, again using hydraulic cutting equipment. Both were then conveyed to hospital via road ambulance, whilst the scene and vehicles were made safe. Once complete the incident was left in the hands of the Police, carrying out road safety duties and awaiting vehicle recovery. The incident was brought under control at 18:06hrs.
