Crews were sent to reports of a semi-detached house on fire, with an adjacent heating oil tank involved. On arrival, crews requested a further appliance for assistance as the building was well alight. Soon after, crews requested a further two appliances due to the size of the fire, making a total of six fire appliances and supporting appliances.

Shortly after, another two appliances were requested, confirming gas and oil involved in the fire, and Police were requested to close the road. One domestic property was fully involved in the fire, along with several outbuildings, oil drums and several cars nearby. Two water bowsers were requested at this point.

The incident continued to escalate, and at 0113 hrs, a request was made for a further two appliances, making a total of 10. Crews fought the fire using compressed air foam, two hose reel jets, three main jets and six breathing apparatus.

At 0140 hrs, a request was made for the nearest aerial ladder platform appliance.

At 0249 hrs, crews confirmed 50% of the property was affected by fire, one external ruptured oil drum, and two cars. The fire was being fanned by winds, hindering the crews progress. Crews increased their firefighting attack with a further compressed air foam jet, along with a ladder and lighting, a fire hydrant and a nearby swimming pool being used as a water source.

At 0400 hrs, crews sent an update that steady progress was being made damping down the fire using the aerial appliance, and one hose reel jet. Crews began rotating, with relief crews being sent.

0909 hrs - Final update. Crews reported the roof space and first floor of the domestic property (measuring approx 25m x 15m over two floors) was 100% damaged by fire. The ground floor was severely damaged by smoke, heat and water.  An external oil drum had ruptured and was also involved in fire. Two vehicles on the driveway were also severely damaged by fire. Fire crews used two CAFS jets, two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus wearers and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

Crews managed to protect the adjoining property and nearby outbuildings including a self-contained flat.

A crew are likely to be there for most of the day checking for hotspots and damping down.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
