A fire appliance from Taunton was mobilised to investigate a smoke alarm activating, on Duke Street in Taunton, following a call from a concerned neighbour.

Within minutes of arriving on scene to the 3 storey terraced property they confirmed there was a fire and immediately increased the attendance by a further fire appliance, also mobilised from Taunton, to assist with firefighting. One male occupant was quickly located and assisted uninjured from the property, whilst the fire, located in the living room of the ground floor flat, was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet. A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the flat of smoke. The fire which started accidentally after incense sticks were left unattended was confined to the living room and furniture but caused smoke logging to the remainder of the flat.
