Property fire
A fire appliance from our Greenbank station in Plymouth was initially mobilised to a call for alarms operating at some flats at Gloucester Place in Plymouth. But within minutes of the initial call, a further call was received from one of the residents who could smell smoke coming from the communal area, located on the ground floor and confirmed the building was in the process of being evacuated. As a result of this information, the attendance was increased by a further 2 fire appliances from Greenbank and Camels Head, together with an aerial ladder platform from Crownhill (all Plymouth stations).
Crews soon located the source of the smoke, confirming a small fire in an immersion heater. The fire was extinguished by initially isolating the electrics before crews damped down the area and checked for any fire spread. The fire started accidentally and caused minimal damage.
