Vehicle fire

A fire appliance from Chard was mobilised following calls from the driver, and passing motorists, for a car that had caught fire on Wadeford Hill, Wadeford nr Chard. The crew were on scene within minutes of booking mobile and set to work bringing the fire, which was well alight, under control using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a main jet using compressed air foam. Once extinguished a thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots before making the vehicle and scene safe. Duty of care was left with the driver awaiting recovery for the vehicle.
