Two fire engines from Torrington and Bideford along with the specialist rescue vehicle from Barnstaple and 2 fire officers attended an area off Woolleigh Bridge near Torrington after reports of a car in water with occupants on the roof.
One male called fire control reporting another car he was with had entered the River Torridge in an attempt to cross the river but had been unaware of the depth of the water on this night and had ended up being moved along the river. Three occupants in the car managed to get themselves onto the roof and on our arrival 3 buoyancy aids were sent out to them while the boat was prepared to launch.
By 19:14 the 3 males had been rescued by the specialist rescue boat and were back on dry land uninjured.
