An 18 year old 15hh Cob horse was rescued from a ditch in Marwood this evening by Specialist Rescue Crews from Barnstaple. The horse was initially trapped under some wiring around its leg but was released from this prior to Fire Service arrival. When crews arrived on scene the horse was laid on its side at the bottom of a field unable to get up. A Vet was on scene administering pain relief. The Specialist Rescue Team used animal rescue equipment and farm machinery to lift and assist the horse onto its feet. The Cob was left in the care of the Vet and its owners.
