Fire control received a call from a cyclist that had been surrounded by flood water in Higher Sandygate. 1 fire engine from Newton Abbott, 1 fire engine from torquay and the water rescue boat from Exmouth attended the incident alongside 2 officers.
Crews were able to make contact with the cyclist advising him to remain in his safe place, they then used dry suits and wading sticks to safely follow the path waist deep in water to the cyclist.
Crews are in the process of deploying the water rescue boat.
Final details:
One adult male was rescued, uninjured, from approximately 3 foot of water by crews.
