Property fire

Crews from Yelverton, Crownhill, Tavistock, Plympton, Camels Head, Ivybridge, Totnes, and Bere Alston have been at a fire involving commercial properties on an industrial estate just outside of Yelverton from the early hours of the morning. Crews contained the fire and our attendance has now been scaled back to two pumps, the aerial ladder platform from Crownhill, the water carrier from Plympton, and the Welfare Unit from Ivybridge while hotspots are monitored and dampened down. Crews are currently using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and drag forks. Update to follow.

Update 10:30 hrs - The fire is now extinguished. This was 2 commerical units used as workshops, that were totally destroyed by fire. Crews extinguished the fire using:

• 8 breathing apparatus
• 2 hose reel jets
• 1 main jet
• 2 thermal image cameras
• drag forks
• small tools
• triple extension ladder
• aerial platform ladder

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. One crew will be revisiting the site later in the afternoon to check for any hotspots.
