Fire control received several 999 calls reporting a caravan on fire in a caravan park and quickly re-diverted a fire engine that was attending a different, but less serious incident close by and one additional fire engine.
On arrival crews confirmed this static caravan was well alight with possibly one person still inside. Crews requested further assistance so another 2 crews were sent to assist. One person was rescued by the fire service and was handed over to Ambulance crew on scene. The caravan was 75 percent destroyed by fire and was extinguished using
- 6 Breathing apparatus
- 1 hose reel jet
- 1 safety jet
- Thermal image camera.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
