Property fire
We were called just after midnight about a thatch fire at the Tradesmans Arms pub in Stokenham, near Kingsbridge.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen and has affected the pub and three terraced thatch properties. All people have evacuated and we currently have 12 fire engines at the scene. Firefighters in breathing apparatus are currently tackling the fire to bring it under control.
Update 11:00 - We currently still have 5 fire engines still in attendance. Crews have been using main jets and breathing apparatus. Another 4 fire engines will be providing a relief crews at 12:30
Final message - the fire started in the kitchen of the pub and spread to three homes. The four buildings were all severely damaged by fire. The cause was accidental.
Firefighters used 14 sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, five main jets and three compressed air foam jets to extinguish the fire.
