Vehicle fire

Fire Control received multiple calls from passing motorists on the motorway who could see a van on fire on the over bridge of the M5 junction at Cullompton. The van was well alight on the arrival of our crew, mobilised from Cullompton, but they soon had the blaze under control. Unfortunately the van was completely destroyed by the fire, which started accidentally and was extinguished using 2 hose reel jets and breathing apparatus. A thermal imaging camera was then used to confirm the fire was out before the vehicle was made safe with small tools. Duty of care was left with the driver awaiting recovery and the Police carrying out traffic duties.
